Our helmet safety inspection service sends your Samshield helmet directly to the manufacturer for assessment. The manufacturer is the appropriate authority to determine whether it is suitable for continued use. You bring or send your helmet to us; we handle shipping to Samshield, communication and receipt after inspection. Once the result arrives, we explain it and agree the next steps with you.

This service is available for Samshield helmets only. Of the helmet brands in our range, Samshield offers a procedure for assessing a helmet after a fall or impact.

When should you arrange a helmet safety inspection?

• After a fall from a horse, even if the helmet has no visible marks.
• After the helmet has fallen onto a hard surface, for example from a saddle, stable shelf or car boot.
• If the helmet has been struck or crushed, including during transport.
• If its history is unknown because it was bought second-hand or received from someone else.
• If you have concerns about the shell or the internal impact-absorbing layer.

A riding helmet is designed to absorb impact energy. After a significant impact, its structure may be permanently weakened even if the outside looks undamaged. That is why its condition cannot be judged by appearance alone.

How does the inspection work?

1. Order the service on this page.
2. Bring your helmet to our service centre in Ruda Śląska or send it by courier.
3. We send it to Samshield and handle all correspondence and logistics.
4. The manufacturer conducts a detailed inspection and assesses whether the helmet can safely remain in use.
5. The helmet returns to us. We explain the result and agree the next steps with you.

Include a short account of what happened: the circumstances of the fall or impact, its approximate date and the helmet's age. This helps the manufacturer assess it. Use the original box if available; loose packing can allow further damage in transit.

What happens after the result?

There are two possible outcomes:

• Samshield approves the helmet for continued use. You collect it or we return it to you.
• Samshield does not approve the helmet. It no longer provides the required protection and must be replaced. We can help you choose a model suited to your head shape and discipline.

Do not use a helmet whose condition is in doubt while awaiting the result. Treat a helmet involved in a fall or significant impact as unsuitable until the manufacturer confirms otherwise. If it fails the assessment, replacement is the safe option. This service is an inspection, not a repair, and does not restore the helmet's protective properties.

Can you inspect helmets from other brands?

No. This service is for Samshield helmets only, as Samshield offers this assessment procedure. If you have another brand, contact us and we will try to help.

Is an inspection worthwhile if there is no visible damage?

Yes. This is a common reason for using the service. The impact-absorbing layer can deform without visible external damage. An unmarked shell does not prove that the helmet still provides its original protection.

How do I send my helmet for inspection?

Bring it to our service centre in Ruda Śląska or send it by courier. Afterwards, collect it in person or have it returned to your chosen address.

How long does the inspection take?

The timing depends on the manufacturer's process and transport in both directions. We confirm it after receiving your helmet. If you have an upcoming competition, allow for using a spare helmet during this period.

What if Samshield does not approve the helmet?

We will let you know promptly. This means it no longer provides suitable protection and must be replaced. We can help you choose a replacement suited to your head shape and discipline. A helmet that fails the assessment should not be used or resold.

Is this a helmet repair?

No. It assesses condition only. It does not include repairs or refurbishment and does not restore protective properties. Its purpose is to determine whether the helmet is suitable for continued use.
