Type 1 studs are made of solid metal. They provide better adhesion to hard and smooth surfaces, e.g. asphalt or pavement. They also provide protection of the holes from dirt. The studs are self-cutting, which is why it cleans the hole while screwing. The studs can be simply and quickly put into the shoe.

It is made of hardened steel with a galvanized surface.
